The Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE)

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations was established in 1958 by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate with the assistance of the Inter-State Board for Anglo-Indian Education.  The ICSE syllabus is one of the best syllabi at the international level.  It includes all aspects of mental development keeping in mind the capacities, talents and opportunities of every student.  Besides class room work, the pupils of every class are encouraged to do library research, use computers and work out projects in each subject every year.

In the magazine Education World June 2016 issue an article was published titled “India School Exam Boards Rankings 2016” which highlights the importance of ICSE syllabus.

This is what is given in the magazine:  Over a period of five months (November 2015 – March 2015), a team of field researchers of the Delhi-based National Council of Educational Research & Training (NCERT) tested the real, unprepared learning outcomes of 277,416 class X students of 7,216 schools affiliated with the CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) and CBSE and 31 state examination boards country-wide.  The students were administered standardized tests in five subjects viz English, Maths, Science, Social Science, and Major Indian Language.

Based on the data provided by NCERT’s National Achievement Survey 2015, Education World has suo motu ranked India’s school exam boards.
